Why This Matters
Right now, most workplace wellbeing systems don’t work for people who experience discrimination. Traditional Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) are not trauma-informed, employees don’t raise issues because they fear harm or inaction, and wellbeing strategies ignore how racism, ableism, sexism, and other forms of minoritisation affect mental health.
This creates silence, burnout, and disengagement across organisations, and contributes to higher attrition and lower retention among minoritised staff.
Sorabird Co is building a platform that brings inclusion and wellbeing together.
The platform is being designed to include inclusion assessments, training, facilitated wellbeing sessions, anonymous reporting, and inclusive therapy packages. These elements are intended to work as one connected system, rather than as isolated initiatives.
What’s different about Sorabird Co
We move beyond individual solutions to address the structural and cultural factors that impact wellbeing.
Because we all work better when:
Our wellbeing is centred
Different identities are valued
The societal challenges we carry are recognised
Built collectively. Rooted in values.
Our name carries our values: Collective liberation, Compassion, Connection, Collaboration.
We're bringing together practitioners with decades of experience across healing, equity, and organisational wellbeing — led by Founder Sellisha Lockyer, whose background spans DEI consultancy, in-house inclusion work, and campaigning on intersectionality, race, and gender equity.
This combination means Sorabird Co is grounded not only in organisational expertise, but also in the lived realities shaping people's wellbeing inside and outside the workplace.
Our mission is to help people soar from the inside out and the outside in.
